For the first time in American history, a President is seeking to utilize the latest in communication technologies to directly connect the government with its people. On December 8th, a memorandum went out to executive departments and agencies, informing them of the specific steps required by the Open Government Directive (OGD).

The more Drupal sites we build at ISL, the more I think Drupal is best described as a content publishing machine. More than other content management systems, it allows for an organic relationship to content flowing in from two sources: traditional editorial staff, and actual site users. Managing a Drupal site is like sitting in the hub of a content exchange, with the ability to deploy bits and pieces where you want.

One of the the most important things for a successful Drupal website is to keep the code it uses up to date and secure. To do this, many times you must update code from Drupal.

One of the most significant accomplishments in Drupal's contributed modules lately has to be Views version 2 for Drupal 6. Already a very popular module before with its first version, Views 2 now has many more features and a brand new UI.

Drupal is a game-changing website development platform. Its built-in features include user registration, comments, blogs, collaborative books and forums, personal pages, and many more components essential to social networking and community websites. Integral to Drupal is the assumption that human beings who come to a website should be able to help build it.

In May 2008 we launched a new website for the Pacific School of Religion (PSR.edu). We built the entire site on the Drupal platform. We at ISL have been working with Drupal for more than a year now, mostly Drupal 5.x, and have found it to be a great solution for many clients that require content management and/or community features.
