The Leading Open Source Content Management Platform
With the appearance of Drupal 5 in 2007, we began to consider this open-source content management framework as offering a superior cost-effective platform for sites with significant user, community and content management requirements. Drupal provides an enormous amount of functionality at the inception of a project, and can be tailored to the precise requirements of each client and user base. The continuous development by the larger Drupal community of new modules and functionality also allows sites to continue to benefit from the platform's larger eco-system. ISL has contributed a number of Drupal e-commerce related modules, including ones for sales tax calculations (STC and Service Objects), a module to allow configurable restrictions on who can buy from an Ubercart store, and one to allow people to have public names that differ from their user names on a Drupal site.
This combination of factors has led us to start specializing in Drupal development and contributing to the Drupal community. ISL has built some 30 Drupal websites and is playing an important role in the spread of this platform, which greatly facilitates the development of rapidly evolving user-generated content websites that are defining the next phase of the Internet.
