ISL has leveraged Facebook’s social networking capabilities for several major sites.
On PharmQD.com, PharmQD.com, a social Web site for healthcare professionals, and consumer site drgreene.com, users may sign in using their Facebook account, which is connected to the Drupal profile. PharmQD presented special challenges in Facebook integration, since the registration process for that site has several stages in classifying the user.
On other sites, like the widely praised Google-map mash-up TimeShutter.com, or the commerce site Metabolife, activities on the site can become a part of their activity stream on their Facebook pages.
When done right, Facebook integration offers more than simply convenience for user registration and authentication. Metabolife can also publish content to Facebook canvas pages, creating a presence for the site within Facebook and gaining attention using the social grid.
