For over 20 years, SkillScan assessment tools have been used by thousands of universities, career counseling practices and Fortune 500 corporations to provide a fast, interactive and engaging process for identifying transferable skills and applying the results to career planning, career change, professional development and self-marketing for the job search. ISL has been involved with customizing online versions of the product for nearly as long. We recently launched a new, web-based version that offers an innovative use of an XML-driven Flash testing application fully integrated with a Drupal website. Users take the Flash test online, with results stored and accessible permanently in a user's profile.
The site serves not only individual users, but corporate users who manage a customized version of the site for their employees. Career counselors are a third type of user. They purchase online uses to offer to clients while still being able to manage and access their results. The e-commerce application provides for all types of online users, and it offers a variety of hard goods for sale. For these, shipping costs are calculated on-the-fly using USPS web services calls. All in all, SkillScan is a highly customized website that uses the foundation provided by Drupal to create a cutting-edge web career and job planning site. A self-service e-commerce portal that minimizes the tasks of managers while deftly serving customers.
